Established over 30 years ago the Dunedin Writers’ Workshop welcomes all writers, hobbyist or professional. We’re a small but supportive bunch who all understand how nice it is to chat with like-minded people who ‘get’ what it’s like to have the curious urge to put pen to paper. The group can provide both emerging and more experienced writers with opportunities to shine and/or learn.
We hold monthly meetings to discuss and practise the craft of writing. Expert writers are invited to meetings several times per year to discuss their craft, run workshops, and give feedback on competition entries. We also hold competitions 2-3 times per year across a range of genres including flash fiction, poetry, essay forms and short stories which gives members the opportunity to gain feedback on their work. Writing retreats are also organised twice yearly.
